Hello guys!!.. Today I'm going to tell you about my Marimo, which I just bought from a good friend of mine. I think I fell in love with this aquatic plant for the first sight. So, this is my first Marimo that I kept in my office as a pet. hehehe.. ^_^
This is the giant size of Marimo that I took from internet. Only to show how its look like in giant size. Marimo according to wikipedia, its also known as Marimo (毬藻 , literally "ball seaweed") in Japanese and as Cladophora ball, Lake ball, or Moss Balls in English, is a species of filamentous green algae (Chlorophyta)
found in a number of lakes in the northern hemisphere. A marimo is a
rare growth form of the species where the algae grow into large green
balls with a velvety appearance. Colonies of such balls are only known
to form in Iceland, Scotland, Japan and Estonia. Native to Akan Lake in Japan, it is considered as national
treasure declared as a natural monument.
Its easy to maintain, no fertilizers, no sun only clean tap water. Well, enough for today and I'm going to post more about Marimo's History, Legend & How to care the Marimo Balls soon..
And this a photo of my Marimo for you..
Its look perfect on my desk with my other pets :p..
